A local organization is celebrating the International Day of Peace through an event later this week.
The Rotary Club of Zelienople will hold a ceremony and dove release Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Zelienople Community Park.
Club members will display signs promoting kindness created by students at nearby Connoquenessing Valley Elementary school.
Also, one thousand paper cranes will hang from the gazebo in honor of Tom and Marie Grant who inspired the placement of the Peace Pole before their deaths in December of 2020.
The UN General Assembly has declared September 21st as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace through 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
