A second person who tested positive for COVID-19 died at Butler Memorial Hospital Friday morning.
No specific details were given about this patient who brings the total number of known Butler County deaths to two. As of 10 a.m. Friday, nearly 800 tests had been performed by BHS including nearly 600 at the outdoor facility by the hospital.
A total of 15 patients are currently in Butler Memorial Hospital with one confirmed coronavirus case and 14 suspected. This includes seven patients currently in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
In addition, Clarion Hospital has admitted two patients to their ICU including one with confirmed infection of COVID-19. Recent donations of personal protective equipment have come in from MSA via Highmark, Slippery Rock University, and BC3. Additional donations will be accepted but current supply availability continues to be adequate.
Appropriate patient separation and infection control standards are in place. BHS leadership continues regular communication with federal, state, and regional medical experts.
