The COVID-19 vaccine has made its way to Western Pennsylvania.
Health professionals at UPMC received shots of the Pfizer vaccine earlier this morning at Children’s Hospital.
Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine says other hospitals and health systems should expect their shipment of vaccines later this week.
“Throughout this week, there are 83 hospitals that will receive direct shipment of vaccines through Pfizer,” Levine said.
Butler Health System officials say they’re expecting 975 doses of the vaccine soon for both Butler Memorial Hospital and Clarion Hospital.
The first shots are expected to be used for frontline bedside health workers.
