This past Saturday, Governor Tom Wolf marked the one year anniversary of the first COVID-19 case in Pennsylvania.
“It’s been a hard year. One full of unimaginable loss and broken dreams. We lost far too many friends, far too many neighbors, and far too many loved ones,” Wolf said.
Since March of last year, over 24,000 people have died in the state due to the coronavirus, and over 945,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported.
Wolf however says there’s reason for optimism.
“There is a light at the end of the tunnel as vaccine production and distribution increase,” Wolf said. “So as you reflect on the past year, let yourself grieve, but also let yourself hope. A brighter future is on the horizon.”
The first reported case in Butler County happened on March 21st last year.
