Butler County is taking steps to update their hazard mitigation plan.
The current plan expires at the end of this year and the county is in the process of working with other municipalities to work on a new plan.
“There will be a kickoff meeting, and then they’ll engage all the municipalities throughout the county so we have a more regional plan,” Commissioner Kim Geyer said.
Geyer says that the hazard plan helps outline how the county and municipalities respond to natural disasters and emergencies.
“It’ll help to provide the community with the tools and information necessary to be able to use this as a tool in the event of a natural disaster,” Geyer added.
The plan is funded with a 75/25 match with the federal government picking up a majority of the cost.
