
The Butler County Coroner was called to a fatal crash Friday afternoon at a notorious intersection in Penn Township.
The two-vehicle accident happened just after 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Route 8 and Airport Road. The roadway was shut down just before 1 p.m., dispatchers said a truck and a minivan collided.
The Butler County Coroner was able to confirm that one person died in the crash and according to dispatch one person was also sent to Butler Memorial Hospital with an injury.
A medical helicopter was initially put on standby, but was not needed.
There have been many serious crashes at that intersection. But, there have been strides made to make it safer, recently adding traffic light upgrades and new turning lanes.
