With snow expected in the forecast this weekend, the snow trucks will be out and Butler Township is preparing up until the first flurry.
David Meeder is the Director of Public Works for Butler Township and he decides when snow trucks go out and he watches the forecast up to the minute.
“It all depends on what they’re calling for accumulation wise. If it’s just a minor event like an inch or so, we’ll just salt,” Meeder said. “But, if it’s more than that, we have the plows on the trucks and they’re ready to go.”
But no matter how prepared the township may be for the snow it still takes three hours to salt all eight township routes and even longer to plow all roads. But troublesome areas will be addressed first.
“There’s always somebody that has to be first, and somebody is going to be last. Each one of our trucks has a designated area that is determined to be the worst in their area to address first,” Meeder said. “That could be a bad hill or bad intersection.”
Meeder most of all just asks for patience from the public as snow begins to come down.
