The Pennsylvania Senate is proposing an income tax cut for state residents.
The Republican-led Senate passed the bill earlier this week that would take the state income tax from 3.07 percent to 2.8 percent.
That would result in a nearly nine percent cut of the state’s income tax revenue.
Advocates for the bill say with the $14 billion surplus in the state’s coffers it would make sense to return it to the taxpayers.
Those opposing the bill argue for taking that money and making investments into other programs, including education.
