A bill that would ban the use of cell phones while driving is poised to become law.
Governor Josh Shapiro says he will sign the bill that bans drivers from handling a cell phone for almost any purpose while driving.
Advocates of the bill say it will reduce the number of distracted driving accidents and deaths.
The current law only bans texting while driving. Under the new bill, drivers would be prevented from taking a phone call unless they use hands-free technology.
Shapiro called the bill a “common sense solution.”
