Aided by a stellar outing from Bailey Falter and a grand slam by Spencer Horwitz, the Pirates cruised to a 6-1 win and series sweep over the Detroit Tigers.
Falter had a career-high eight strikeouts over seven innings of work. Meanwhile, Horwitz hit his first-ever grand slam in the second inning. Andrew McCutchen also homered in the first inning, his ninth of the season.
The Pirates are off today and will host the Arizona Diamondbacks tomorrow.
DRAFT PICK DOESN’T SIGN
The Pirates second round draft pick has opted to attend college instead of signing with the Bucs. Angel Cervantes announced he would attend UCLA in the fall. The high school pitcher was offered over $1 million to sign.
