The San Francisco Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park. The Pirates bullpen failed to hold a 2-1 lead in the game, with Dennis Santana taking the loss. He allowed two runs in the ninth inning. Isaac Mattson allowed a game-tying run in the eighth.
The Pirates went 1-for-7 with Runners in Scoring Position and left seven on base. Nick Gonzales led the Bucs with three of their eight hits.
Starting pitcher Andrew Heaney left the game after 4-2/3rds innings. He allowed one run on two hits.
The Bucs begin a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds tonight. First pitch is 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates. He enters the game 6-8 overall, but has an MLB-best 2.02 ERA.
