The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 14-8 Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. The victory earned the Reds a four-game series split. After falling behind 4-0 by the third inning, the Pirates came back to tie the game in the fifth inning, but the bullpen allowed eight runs over the final four innings.
The Pirates outhit the Reds 16-14, but left 12 men on base and went 4-for-18 with Runners In Scoring Position.
The Pirates begin a six-game road trip tonight in Milwaukee. First pitch is 7:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm.
Andrew Heaney will start for the Bucs. Former Pirate Jose Quintana will start for the Brewers, who carry a nine-game winning streak into the game. Milwaukee has the best record in baseball at 73-44. No other MLB team has hit 70 wins yet.
