The Milwaukee Brewers completed a three-game series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 12-5 victory Wednesday afternoon. The Brewers have now won 12 games in a row. The Pirates have lost five in a row.
Bryan Reynolds hit two home runs in the game and drove in all five Pirates runs. The Bucs matched the Brewers 12 hits in the game, but left 10 men on base.
Mitch Keller allowed six earned runs over four innings and took his first loss since June 21st. Keller’s record fell to 5-11 this season. His ERA climbed to 4.13.
The Pirates are off today and open a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs Friday afternoon. All three games in Chicago will have a 2:20pm start time this weekend.
The Pirates played without centerfielder Oneil Cruz, who was placed on the seven-day Injured List and placed in concussion protocol after a collision with Jack Suwinski Tuesday. He was replaced by Ronny Simon, who was called up from Indianapolis. Simon went 2-for-5 yesterday, with two runs scored.
