Two of the Pirates minor league clubs clinched playoff berths over the weekend. High-A Greensboro and Double-A Altoona have reached the post-season. The Altoona Curve locked up the second-half championship of the Eastern League. The Curve have gone 12-6 and have won nine of their last 12 games since shortstop Konnor Griffin was promoted from Greensboro.
Meanwhile, the Grasshoppers dominated the South Atlantic Eastern Division with an 88-43 record in the regular season. They open a best-of-three playoff series today, while Altoona will complete their regular season with six games this week at Erie, with a best-of-three series next week against the SeaWolves, who were the Eastern League first-half champions.
The triple-A Indianapolis Indians have best record in the International League Western Division this season.
