The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 last night in Florida. The Pens had a 2-1 lead after one period, but the Lightning went on to score five unanswered goals.
Egor Chinakhov scored twice for the Pens. He now has 20 goals this season, 17 of them scored with the Pens after being acquired from Columbus in late December.
The Penguins remained three points in front of the New York Islanders, and four points in front of Columbus with six games remaining in their regular season.
The Blue Jackets lost 5-1 last night to Carolina. With the victory, the Hurricanes became the first Eastern Conference team to clinch a playoff spot.
The Pens host the Florida Panthers for back-to-back games this weekend at PPG Paints Arena.
Saturday’s game has a 5pm face-off. WISR pre-game begins at 4:30pm.
Face-off for Sunday is 3pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 2:30pm.
After their Sunday afternoon game, the Pens are idle until they visit New Jersey Thursday.
