Jaxon Salata shot the lowest score on the Butler County Community College men’s golf team for the first time in six matches as the Pioneers opened their spring season April 10 with a 2-1 record behind the Butler Senior High School graduate’s 78 at North Park Golf Course in Allison Park. Westmoreland County Community College defeated BC3 315-324.
The Pioneers topped the Community College of Allegheny County, which posted a 344, and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, which had a 385. Mitchell Covert added a 79 for BC3, Parker Worsley an 83, Mason Phillips an 84 and Bodie Spohn, an 86. The four lowest scores of golfers on each squad are totaled to arrive at a team score.
The four teams play again this Friday at the Glengarry Golf Links in Latrobe.
