The Butler Township Commissioners have given final approval to a Cleveland Cliffs land development plan.
The Commissioners heard from company representatives about the extension of an existing building about 65 feet next to Bessemer Avenue. This $195 million expansion project will allow for the addition of four electric induction furnaces resulting in improved quality of product and keeping up with other producers of electrical steel around the world. This project will also involve 232 long rock nails to keep the area along Bessemer in place. The new furnaces are currently being fabricated with the first expected to be delivered at the end of 2027 and all four up and running by fall of 2028.
Township Commissioners also gave final approval to a land development plan that will see a new 6,000 square foot Baglier Bullpen building constructed off of Comfort Lane for the purposes of storage and detailing. That project will also include the paving of a secondary access road off of Windsor Drive.
