A Butler man is facing charges for shooting a woman in Butler Township earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Tuesday on the 100 block of Metzger Avenue when police were called for a domestic incident.
When officers arrived on scene they spoke with 42-year-old Matthew Swarens, he told police during an argument he fired a gun in his possession and hit the victim. The victim told police she feared for her life after the shot was fired.
Due to previous convictions Swarens was not in legal possession of the gun.
Swarens has been charged with simple assault and possession of firearms prohibited. He was placed in the Butler County Prison and his bail was set at $15,000.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 1.
