The Altoona Curve defeated the Erie SeaWolves 11-5 last night in their best-of-three Eastern League playoff series. It was the first time in seven years that the Pirates Double-A affiliate hosted a playoff game.
The Curve’s Esmerlyn Valdez, who has jumped minor league levels like the Pirates top prospect Konnor Griffin has done this season, drove in five runs and griffin had three hits. The second game of the series moves to Erie Thursday. They also play Friday, if necessary.
