Butler City Council has approved of the purchase of new equipment to upgrade parking facilities.
At their meeting Thursday night, Council approved a proposal from Butts Ticket Systems in the amount of nearly $141,000 for 10 kiosks and 17 meters to be installed in the Diamond Lot, Center City Garage, Tier Garage, North Main Street Lot, and North Street Lot along with handheld enforcement devices.
According to Director of Parking Jimmy Chipprean, these units are “the best of the best” and are identical to the ones currently in use in areas such as Pittsburgh and Sewickley. Users will enjoy touch screens and a variety of payment options including coins and by cell phone. The devices should be operational by the beginning of 2026.
Council also approved a five-year agreement with the same company for maintenance, technical support, training sessions, parts, repairs, and replacements for the equipment. The city will pay about $10,000 in the first year up to $23,000 in the final year.
