The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Utah Hockey Club 3-2 in overtime last night, snapping a three-game losing streak. Sidney Crosby scored the game-winner in the extra period. It was his 23rd game-winning overtime goal, which is second all-time in NHL history. Erik Karlsson scored the game-tying goal with just over six minutes remaining in regulation. Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 27 of 29 shots in net. His record improved to10-9-4 this season.
The Pens completed their seven-game road trip with a 3-4 record, but three of the four losses came against teams with losing records.
The Penguins return home to host Nashville Saturday night. After that, they will have seven consecutive games against Metropolitan Division opponents. Five of the seven games will be against Philadelphia and the New York Rangers.
