The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Chicago Cubs 4-1 last night. Paul Skenes struggled in his final home start of the season. He allowed three runs on seven hits over 3-2/3rds innings. The Cy Young Award contender allowed three walks and struck out six. He still left the game to a standing ovation.
Skenes is now 10-10 this season with a 2.03 ERA. His ERA still leads the National League, and so do his 209 strikeouts.
The Bucs and Cubs complete their series this afternoon at 12:35pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 12:10pm.
