The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 last night and have taken a 3-0 series lead. The Penguins opened the scoring with an Evgeni Malkin goal on a first period power play, but the Flyers would score the next three goals, all in the second period. Erik Karlsson scored on a third period power play to close the Pens to within one goal, but the Flyers put the game away with another power play goal three minutes later.
There were 25 total penalties handed out last night and there were eight total power plays in a game that melted down into something more like a professional wrestling match.
The best-of-seven series will continue with Game 4 Saturday night at 8pm. The Penguins need a victory to force the series back to Pittsburgh Monday.
Other Stanley Cup Playoff games last night:
–Dallas defeated Minnesota 4-3 in double overtime to take a 2-1 series lead.
–Anaheim defeated Edmonton 6-4 to even that series at 1-1.
