Gannon won the Division II men’s basketball national championship Sunday following an 84-61 victory over Lander in Indianapolis. The Golden Knights are led by Seneca Valley graduate and second-year head coach Easton Bazzoli. He took over a program that had won three games three years ago. Gannon completes a 34-3 season this year to win their first national title.
The UCLA women’s basketball team claimed their first national title following a 79-51 victory over South Carolina Sunday. UCLA had defeated Texas 51-44 Friday in their Final Four match-up. South Carolina had defeated UConn 62-48 in the other semifinal, ending the Huskies 54-game winning streak.
Tonight the men’s NCAA championship game will be played in Indianapolis between Michigan and UConn. The Wolverines ousted Arizona 91-73 in their Final Four game Saturday, while UConn defeated Illinois 71-62 in the other national semifinal. Tip-off tonight is 8:50pm. The game will be televised on TBS/truTV and HBO Max.
The West Virginia men’s basketball team won the College Basketball Crown tournament Sunday following an 89-82 victory over Oklahoma in overtime.
