Gas prices have continued to drop both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Butler as of yesterday is $4.59—which is a decrease of 14 cents compared to last week.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by six cents to reach $4.58. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $4.41, while the most expensive is $4.70 in Pittsburgh.
Even though the average national gas price dropped by a penny over the past week to $4.35 this is still the highest price gasoline has ever been at this time of year. Gasoline demand increased last week, but the price of domestic oil decreased by about a dollar to just over $88 a barrel.
