Gas prices have increased both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, went up by a nickel to reach $3.39 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by two cents to settle at $3.37. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.08, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.62.
The average national gas price rose by a penny over the past week to $3.15. This is 32 cents lower than last year at this time. The demand for gas has increased along with the price of crude oil to $70 a barrel.
