Gas prices continued to rise both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by two cents to reach $3.86 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole rose by a penny over the same period of time to hit $3.85. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Clarion at $3.75, while the most expensive is in Mercer and Warren at $3.90.
The average national gas price climbed four cents over the past week to reach $3.63. This is 20 cents more than a month ago and three cents cheaper than one year ago. The price of oil dropped slightly but not enough to make an impact on gas prices.
