High school sports scores from Thursday:
Baseball:
–Butler-5 North Allegheny-2. Kyle Casteel struck out 11 batters in 6-1/3rd innings. Trent Best drove in two runs. The Golden Tornado improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in section play.
–Slippery Rock-11 Wilmington-1 in 6-innings. Sophomore Johnny Petras threw all six innings for the Rockets, allowing just the one run and striking out four. Parker Dalcamo hit a two-run home run. Bryce Covert went 2-for-4 and had three RBI’s. Slippery Rock improved to 2-1 and will travel to Sharon this afternoon for a first pitch at 4:15pm.
–Knoch-10 Highlands-0 in 5-innings. Hunter Lang struck out nine in five one-hit innings to lead the Knights, who are now 9-1 overall and 4-0 in section play.
–Mars-11 Beaver-1 in 6-innings.
–Moniteau-9 Karns City-2.
–AC Valley/Union-17 North Clarion-2 in 3-innings.
Softball:
–Seneca Valley-7 Canon-McMillan-3. The Raiders improved to 7-1 overall.
