The Karns City girls basketball team defeated Clarion-Limestone 27-24 Friday night to win the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference championship. KSAC MVP Naomi Venesky led the Gremlins fourth quarter, come-from-behind rally, with 15 points, scoring 13 of the points in the second half.
–The Knoch boys basketball team defeated East Allegheny 56-21 Friday night in the First Round of the WPIAL Class 4A tournament. The Knights jumped out to a 33-13 lead by halftime in winning a First Round game for the third consecutive season. Vinnie DeFelice led Knoch with 19 points. Knoch will meet Central Valley Wednesday in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. The game will be played at North Allegheny high school. Tip-off is 7:30pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm.
–The Mars girls were eliminated from the post-season following a 63-36 loss to Indiana in the Class 5A First Round Friday night.
–Also on Friday night, Clarion defeated Moniteau 66-24 in the Boys KSAC Semifinals.
Tonight:
–The North Catholic girls host Laurel Highlands in the WPIAL Class 4A First Round.
–The Freeport girls will travel to South Park, also in Class 4A. Both games have a 7pm tip-off.
