Former driver Matt Kenseth and former crew chief Kirk Shelmerdine will become the newest Modern Era members of the Nascar Hall of Fame. They will be joined by Hershel McGriff from the Pioneer Division and longtime Nascar executive Mike Helton, who was named the recipient of the Landmark Award for outstanding contributions to the sport.
The 50-year old Kenseth was Cup Series champion in 2003 and won 39 Cup races in his career before retiring in 2020. Shelmerdine was part of Dale Earnhardt’s legacy.
The ceremony will be held in Charlotte next January.
