The Pittsburgh Penguins opened their regular season with a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers last night. A pair of newcomers helped the Pens to the win. Winger Justin Brazeau scored twice and goaltender Arturs Silovs stopped all 22 shots in his Penguins debut. Evgeni Malkin had two assists.
The victory was the first NHL win for new Penguins head coach Dan Muse, as the Pens spoiled the debut for former coach Mike Sullivan in New York.
The Penguins will host the New York Islanders Thursday night for their home opener at 7pm.
