Penn State has fired head coach James Franklin after the Nittany Lions fell 22-21 to Northwestern Saturday. It was Penn State’s third loss in a row, and second loss to an unranked team when the were heavy favorites. Quarterback Drew Allar was also lost for the season with an injury, which will end his collegiate career.
Franklin has led Penn State for the last 12 seasons. He is still owed $49 million according to his contract. Nittany Lions associate head coach Terry Smith will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
