The Pittsburgh Penguins begin the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight when they open their best-of-seven First Round Series with the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:30pm.
The beginning of this year’s premier hockey tournament quite possibly could be the final run for the Penguins trio of Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin. The three, who brought Stanley Cups to Pittsburgh in 2009, 2016 & 2017, are all in their middle 30’s and Letang and Malkin become free agents after the season.
Last night in the first games of the NHL playoffs:
–Carolina defeated Boston 5-1.
–Toronto shutout the two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning 5-0.
–St. Louis-4 Minnesota-0.
–Los Angeles Kings-4 Edmonton-3.
