The Pittsburgh Pirates were no-hit by the Cincinnati Reds Sunday afternoon at PNC Park, but still managed to win the game 1-0. Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene took the no-hitter into the eighth inning before he was removed after allowing two walks. A reliever allowed another walk before Ke’Bryan Hayes drove in the winning run when he hit into a fielder’s choice. David Bednar earned his seventh save in seven tries with a perfect ninth inning.
The Pirates open a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field tonight at 7:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm. All three games this week are night-games. The Bucs are now 15-19 overall. The Cubs are 13-20.
