The Tampa Bay Rays shut out the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-0 last night in Florida. Former prospect Shane Baz struck-out a career-high 10 Pirates over six innings. The Bucs had nine hits in the game, but failed to score a run. They stuck out 15 times in the game. Rookie Thomas Harrington was called up for the Pirates start. He allowed six earned runs on seven hits over four innings. Harrington also walked four, while striking out two.
It was the Pirates fourth loss in a row, as their record fell to 1-6 to start the season.
The Bucs and Rays complete their series this afternoon at 1:10pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 12:45pm. Paul Skenes will start today’s game for the Pirates.
