The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to a former player for the second time this season when they were shut-out by the Cincinnati Reds 5-0 last night. Connor Overton allowed just three hits in six-plus innings last night, as the Bucs fell to the team with the worst record in the major leagues for the third time in four games this season. The Pirates managed just four hits in the game, none for extra bases.
The four-game series will continue tonight at 6:35pm.
The Pirates have sent Cole Tucker to Triple-A Indianapolis and called up Rodolfo Castro. They also claimed 28-year old right-handed pitcher Tyler Beede off waivers from San Francisco. Beede is a former #1-draft pick from Vanderbilt. He has made 22 starts for the Giants, and made six appearances this year, all out of the bullpen.
