The Pittsburgh Pirates lost 4-3 to the Washington Nationals Sunday afternoon. An Oneil Cruz error in the eighth inning helped the Nationals overcome a three-run first-inning deficit in the game for the win. Washington took two of three games in the series.
The lone Pirates victory came in a 5-1 decision Saturday, which broke a seven-game losing streak. Rookie Bubba Chandler took a perfect game into the sixth inning. He ended up allowing one run on two hits, striking out seven. The Bucs scored four runs in the eighth inning to break the game open.
The Pirates have returned home for their final home-stand of the season at PNC Park. They host the Chicago Cubs for the first of three games tonight at 6:35pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Braxton Ashcraft will start for the Bucs. Former Pirate Jameson Taillon will start for Chicago.
