The Pirates sent reliever David Bednar to Triple-A Indianapolis prior to Tuesday’s game. The Bucs closer is coming off the 2024 season in which he struggled, and started this season failing to get an out in two games in Miami. He did earn a save in one of the games against the Marlins, but had given up a home run in that outing.
To make room for Thomas Harrington on their 40-man big-league roster, the Pirates had to designate catcher Jason Delay for assignment Tuesday.
