The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds in extra innings 4-3. Pirates starter Paul Skenes was dominant once again, going six innings and striking out seven. With this being his last anticipated performance, his season ERA will finish at 1.97, which is the lowest in Major League Baseball.
The Pirates got the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th with a Spencer Horwitz RBI double.
The Pirates will look to complete the sweep later this afternoon. First pitch is at 12:40 p.m., with pregame beginning at 12:15 p.m. on WISR.
MLB PLAYOFF RACE
With the loss, the Reds still remain one game behind the New York Mets, who lost last night as well. The Diamondbacks remain one game back as they lost to the Dodgers in extra innings last night.
In the American League, the Cleveland Guardians lead the Detroit Tigers by a game in the AL Central. The Tigers still cling to a one game lead over the Houston Astros in the final spot of the AL Wild Card race.
