The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 last night. Kevin Newman led the Bucs with three hits. Rodolfo Castro added two hits, including a double and triple. Every Pirate in the lineup except Michael Chavis had a hit. Chavis hit two home runs in the Pirates loss the night before.
Mitch Keller earned the victory, allowing three runs on five hits while pitching into the sixth inning. It was his first win since July 11th, despite pitching well. Since adding a two-seam fastball to his arsenal May 31st, Keller has induced 14 double plays, most in baseball.
The Bucs and Diamondbacks complete their four-game series this afternoon in Phoenix. First pitch is 3:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 3:15pm. The Pirates move on to San Francisco after the game.
