The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Los Angeles Angels 3-0 last night. Andrew Heaney allowed just one hit over his six innings, striking out nine batters. Heaney began the game by retiring the first 13 Angels batters. He had struck out the first six batters he faced. Oneil Cruz hit a 463-foot home run to center field for the fourth-longest home run of the season in the fifth inning. Three Pirate relievers closed the game with three scoreless innings. Dennis Santana earned his third save of the season.
The Pirates had 11 hits in the game, with every batter having at least a hit.
The Bucs and Angels complete their three-game series tonight at 9:29pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 9pm. Carmen Mlodzinski will start for the Bucs. Former Pirate Tyler Anderson will start for Los Angeles.
