The Seneca Valley hockey team defended their PIHL Class 3A Penguins Cup title last night following a 5-4 victory over Peters Township. The Raiders will now face-off against Flyers Cup champion Holy Ghost Prep Saturday in West Chester at 5pm in the Pennsylvania Cup Final. Seneca Valley remained unbeaten at 20-0-1 this season.
The Butler JV hockey team defeated Upper St. Clair 5-4 in overtime last night in their PIHL playoffs. The Golden Tornado battled back from a 2-0 deficit, only to have USC score with one second remaining in regulation and force overtime. Butler’s Tyler Hagaman scored his second goal of the night in sudden death to give the Golden Tornado the victory. Butler will play the winner of tonight’s Armstrong-Avonworth match-up next Wednesday. Hagaman finished the night with two goals and four points.
