College Football Saturday:
–Pitt defeated Central Michigan 45-17 to improve to 2-0 to start their season. The Panthers visit West Virginia this Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is 3:30pm.
–Penn State improved to 2-0 with a 34-0 win over Florida International. The Nittany Lions host Villanova this Saturday at 3:30pm.
The Nittany Lions remain ranked #2 behind Ohio State in this week’s Associated Press poll. LSU remains ranked #3 and Miami #5, with Oregon moving to #4.
Friday night –
–Slippery Rock opened their season with a 24-13 win over Franklin Pierce. The Rock will host Shepherd for their home opener this Saturday night at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Kick-off is 6pm.
High School Football Friday Night:
–Butler defeated Meadville to improve to 3-0 this season. The Golden Tornado will host Hollidaysburg this Friday night.
–Fox Chapel kicked a late field goal to top Knoch 20-18.
–North Catholic defeated Blackhawk 65-49 Friday night – in one of the highest-scoring WPIAL games in 75 years. Trojans running back Logan Schade rushed for 344 yards and four scores. North Catholic quarterback Joey Felitsky was a perfect 11 of 11 for 235 yards, four touchdowns and a 2- point conversion.
